We’re pleased to announce the results of a great First of the Summer Tri held on Sunday 27th April 2014 at the Holmfirth Pool and Fitness centre.

Holmfirth’s very own Jonny Mclean was a close second finishing with a PB of 01:12:34. Jonny is sponsored by Jackpot Racing and trains with the Holmfirth Harriers.

First over the line for the women was Sarah Terry in 01:29:15 closely followed by Lucy Scott in a time of 01:31:33. Sarah competes for Long Eaton Triathlon Club and Lucy for Knutsford Tri Club.

The sun made a few quick appearances on the day and the rain held off for what everyone commented on being a successful event.

Proceeds from the sale of cakes, tea and coffee, kindly donated by friends and family of race organisers Dave Armitage and Simon Jones, helped to raise nearly £300. The total now exceeds £3,000 since the Summer Tri Series started in 2011 and all proceeds go to the Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team who marshal the triathlon events every year.

Both Dave and Simon would like to personally thank all competitors, course marshals, pool counters, transition marshals, family and friends for helping out on the day. “Without the support of everyone involved we wouldn’t be able to make the Holmfirth Summer Triathlon Series the success it is” said Dave Armitage, founder and event organiser.

“We’re already planning for October’s event; Last of the Summer Tri which takes place on the 28th September 2014. We’ve also got some other races planned this year so keep an eye on the website and our Facebook page” said Armitage.

First and Last of the Summer Tri events are a sprint triathlon series held in Holmfirth in April and October respectively. Keep up with latest news, reviews, training tips and general triathlon fun on
